Hello Mr. Bagnato,

I found your link on the P&J site and decided to drop you a line. For several years I have had a piece of P&J memorabilia. It is a cast brass frog on a lily pad, the plan view (top) is the same outline as the Trade Mark "The Sign of Superior Quality" and the motif is echoed at the interior. The base is stamped "PUSEY & JONES/WILMINGTON./DELAWARE". The object was cast in two pieces. The frog has a void at the base which allows a small spindle to fit into the frog base. The pedal of the lily has been bent over the rear of the frog securing it in place. The piece measures 4 3/8" in length front to back and 4 1/2" side to side. The max. height is 1 1/2".

I found the piece while hunting in a little cluttered antique store in Rehoboth DE. Just lucky, we'll probably never see another.  The object looks pre-1900 although it is hard to tell. Any ideas on the function or age?
