The Pusey & Jones Links & Data Page:

Before Pusey & Jones closed their plant in Wilmington, Delaware, they had built 497 paper machines in the period from May 1867 to October 1956. Some newcomers to the paper industry may not ever have heard of Pusey & Jones, but a lot of us recall them to be a powerful force in the paper industry with good designs and machinery and recognized the paper industry would be poorer for their demise.

Part of the P & J history presented here are the "Lists of Paper Machines" sold and built by Puseyjones. Unfortunately the lists (7) are of very poor quality for reproduction. We have scanned them, converted them, filtered them and massaged them, all to no avail. Even so, the historical value is important enough that we posted an image of one of the lists (the first list for the years 1867 to 1888) even though it is difficult to read.

All the 7 lists have been reformatted and linked below. They are not as romantic as reading the true historic documents but you will be able to rummage through them, get some insight in the technical progress of paper machines through the years and perhaps even find your own paper mill's ancestor. The lists were formatted using Excel which presented the opportunity to plot the width trends posted below as a link.
