SCREEN SHOT - DATA LOGGING FORM

The accuracy of your winder production study depends on reliable information. At some point the winder operation will have to be monitored to record operation times. This form has been developed over time to record operation event times when making observations at the winder.
Print as many forms as required to do a study. Enter the data at the winder. Enter data in the white cells only. The data in red are calculated values. The area at the bottom of the form is used to time unscheduled events such as slitter resets, winder breaks, splices, etc. Enter a description and the event times. Values and a couple unscheduled events are shown in the form above to demonstrate the use of the form. The form you download will have similar values to enable you to change the numbers to experiment with the form. The numbers can be deleted before actual use or simply enter data directly over the numbers shown. Use a new form for each reel being wound. The form simplifies the process and improves the accuracy of winder time monitoring. The system is based on a strict stop watch procedure. Once the watch is started it is only necessary to record the "end time" of an event. Using a stop watch with a lap timer makes timing more accurate and easier than using a conventional stop watch. When using a conventional stop watch, the elapsed time must be read on the fly. With a lap time feature the "end" time will temporarily freeze and then resume the timing without interruption. (see image and text below).
When timing is complete, transfer the numbers to the form in your laptop or desktop computer and the form will "auto-calc" all the timed events required for your study. .
The image on the left shows a handy
arrangement for timing events at the winder. The stop watch is
fastened to the clipboard using Velcro. A stop watch with a lap
timer is shown. To start timing, reset the watch to zero. Push
the button on the right to start timing events. At the end of
the event being monitored, push the lap timer button on the left.
The display freezes. Note the time on the data logging form. Repush
the lap timer button and the time resumes without interruption.
Complete detail instructions are included on the spreadsheet program. The form is available in either US Customary or Metric(SI) values.
